Celebs Show Off Their Emmy Gifts

The “Style 2005: Escape” pre-Emmy retreat was the invite to receive this year. Hosted by Nathalie Dubois on the rooftop of the Luxe Hotel in Beverly Hills, celebrities and VIP’s roved in and out on September 16 and 17.
The themed event consisted of summer sweet destinations, including “Tropical Gardens,” “Serenity Spa Lounge, “Sail Away,” “Destination Gadgets” and “Fashion Studio” all harmoniously adjoined on one outdoor plaza.
To combat the characteristically hot California sun on the crowded rooftop, guests stayed hydrated with lemonade & raspberries, IZZE natural sparkling juice, Volvic volcanic spring water and margaritas from The Margarita King.
Daryl Hannah walked away with Klorane skin care products and a hair consultation from Rene Furterer at the “Serenity Spa Lounge,” while celebs like Paula Abdul and Tatyana Ali enjoyed pampering at the InSPArations Mobile Wellness Spa.
Also known as InSpaLA.com, the mobile spa offered guests their choice from a menu of items such as massage, tarot card readings and sound flute therapy.
Over at the “Tropical Gardens,” guests such as Desperate Housewives’ Brenda Strong and Nip Tuck’s Kelly Carlson were showered with all the safe-tanning essentials a girl could ask for from Jimmy Jimmy Coco, as well as perfectly compatible beach ensembles by Nikki Beach Clothing and St. Martin.
The tsunami of oceanic gifts came from the “Sail Away” boutique, where lucky recipients such as 24’s Kim Raver and My Big Fat Greek Wedding’s Nia Vardalos were lavishly awarded two days to swim with spinner dolphins from Dolphin Spirit of Hawaii and a four day Tahitian getaway from Bora Bora Resort Spa. Ah, the perks that go with celebrity.
Over at the Fashion Studio, Maggie Grace of ABC’s hit drama Lost snagged a pair of jeans from U2’s front man Bono’s new clothing line Edun. I highly suggest checking out the designs -- The styles are as fabulous as the motivation behind the line. Grey's Anatomy star Katherine Heigl selected a few tops from Fray but the big coo at Fashion Studio was the $6,000 exclusive couture one-of-a-kind Bea Valdes hand bag that Sharon Stone, Julie Delpy and Paula Abdul each received from event producer Nathalie Dubois.
When cruising over to the “Ali Baba Cavern of Jewelry,” high end Aquanautic watches were what garnered the most attention. Michael Madsen, July Delpy, Holly Robinson Peete, Sharon Stone, Daryl Hannah and Paris Hilton each received one customized to their own desire, as well as an elegant Niessing steel and precious stone ring.
And around every corner, there was still more to come – from the new LifeDrive personal mobile manager and Treo cell phone, to the designer laptop professional bags from Moonsus, to the uber-trendy glitz of the handbags & belts at Misa B.G.
Parking was valet, hors d’oeuvres were passed and VIP guests were
showered in everything gratis - and what wasn’t given was theirs’

Only in Hollywood: The Spa that Comes to You…
Hollywood is all about comfort, often the chauffeured kind. You can order
food, prepared and delivered according to your most demanding needs. Personal
shoppers run booming businesses, where clients select denim and clothing
from samples brought to their living rooms. And now, spas come on order
as well, to your office, home or hotel: Meet InSpaLA.
The brainchild of Colleen McClafferty, InSpaLA opened just last year,
gathering together over forty of LA’s top spa and wellness therapists
in a mobile network. She got the idea of taking their spa services on
the road after having repeatedly heard how her mover-and-shaker clients
were too busy to come to her.
“People love to be pampered without the stress of the day spa experience?driving,
parking, staff and facility issues,” says McClafferty. “I used
to manage a top Santa Monica Spa, so I know the complaints well. With
traffic and gas prices rising, our services are even in higher demand.”
It was the same for most of her therapist friends, who have been in the
industry for many years.
InSpaLA’s three top services are massage, nails, and skin care (facials/makeup).
“We believe that these mobile spa services are so popular because
we take the stress out of your relaxation,” McClafferty explains.
The services, which can be ordered online, are especially popular for
parties. McClafferty estimates that the company works 1-3 parties a week,
including larger affairs for production and event companies.
“We did a party recently in Hermosa Beach for 20 women, a bridal
shower,” she offers as an example. “We arrived to a mostly empty
beach house and took over. Everything from flowers and decor to candles
and food.”
In addition to ordering, picking up and plating sushi for the 20 guests,
they set up massage tables on the rooftop, where the girls took turns
getting their massages, while nail and skin care services were being done
inside.
“The party was a huge success,” McClafferty says. Guests, she
says, usually wear comfortable lounge clothing, and slippers or flip-flops
for an added touch of comfort.
On top of food, décor, candles, aromatherapy, foot spa, fresh flowers
and guest gifts, InSpaLA will even supply the DJ. ”For parties, the
host simply provides the space. We do the rest. Our therapists bring equipment,
supplies and an InSPArations experience kit, which includes music, aromatherapy
spray, candles/incense, eye pillows.”
Other therapeutic goodies include tea, granola as well as citrus water
and spa bath salts for an on- the-spot aromatherapy bath. InSpaLA can
also create a Zen Den, with Buddha statues, candle centerpieces, fountains,
flowers, tapestries, food and music.
“Or,” says McClafferty, “we’ll send out personal trainers
and even hypnotherapists.”

Don’t feel like heading out to a spa but still want to get a manicure,
pedicure or even a pre-natal massage? Well, have the spa come to you.
There are several services that offer mobile spas. Here area a few and
what they offer. There are some precautions to take, however, before ordering
in. “We recommend that women do not have services in their first
tri-master as they could be at risk for miscarriage,” says Janet
M. Rotella, owner/founder of SPArties Mobile Day Spa (877-SPArties or
877-772-7843; www.sparties.com), which is headquartered in Deerfield Beach,
Florida, SPArties specializes in the areas of South Florida, New Jersey,
Philadelphia, and portions of New York and will travel to any location,
nationwide.
“The last two tri-masters are safe, although massage can stimulate labor, so we always caution our clients and require written permission from their doctor.” Of course, always check with your doctor before receiving any spa service. Make sure the spa will be sending someone who is “a pre-natal certified therapist,” says Rotella. “Ask what types of pillows or positions they will place them on or in to be most comfortable for them and the baby. Women need to communicate on all levels with their therapist and also advise them of any discomfort. If they are using any products they should inquire about those as well.” Check with the State Board to make sure the mobile spa has passed all its inspections. Call the Better Business Bureau to make sure there have been no complaints against the spa as well.
Don’t worry about not having the proper products at home either. “The mobile spa will bring all products to your home. And while mobile spas provide personalized service, they don’t always cost much more. Says Rotella, “SPArties prices are comparable to going to a stationary spa. Some treatments tend to be slightly higher just because we are providing a premium service that comes to you, in your home or location of choice.” Adds Colleen McClafferty of Insparations Mobile Wellness Spa (310-809-9292; www.InspaLA.com), which specializes in providing holistic spa services the Los Angeles Metropolitan area. “Home Spa services run in the range of your high-end Day Spas. At INspaLA.com we offer ways to gather with friends for Wellness Circles, making services much more affordable.”
Also, in most cases space isn’t a problem. “For most spa services you just need enough space for a massage table. If space is limited some services can be done on the bed,” says McClafferty. According to Rotella, “SPArties have been performed anywhere from boats, to mansions to catering halls and everything in between. Our very first SPArty was in a studio apartment and we are now in the process of planning one in a 200’x 200’ under air tent. No space is too large or too small. A good rule of thumb is to allow enough space for each treatment area as you would for a chaise lounge with some walk around each.” And ask what services they can offer you in your home; some states regulate that services like full facials and manicure/pedicures must be done at a spa facility.
Besides massages, many pregnant women like to get hand and foot treatments, including manicure, pedicures and reflexology, which is a massage is applied to specific areas on the hands and feet to promote a response from areas far removed from the tissue stimulated via the nervous system. SPAarties offers all of these. “Our moms-to-be enjoy our reflexology or pedissage treatments as they really help sooth their swelling feet and don’t put their tummies at risk,” says Rotella. At Spa A Go Go (772-633-8337; www.spagogo.com), which covers Central and Southern Florida, they offer a special foot treatment called “Foot Fetish,” which, says owner Tricia Kent, is a “pampering treatment for those who are on their feet all day, have poor circulation or suffer from ‘tired leg’ syndrome.” Perfect for pregnant women. In the treatment, hot towels are applied to stimulate circulation. Next, a cleanser then toner are applied to the areas. A scrub is performed, which will reduce swelling, exfoliate and revitalize your skin. Lastly, a vitamin-rich moisturizer is massaged in to soothe tired/achy muscles. Cost is $40 for 30 minutes or $75 for 60 minutes.
